App Install & Setup
This page covers downloading the KDMLink app, pairing it with your N-Link, and getting through first-run configuration. Make sure the N-Link hardware is already installed and powered on before you start.

Pair your N-Link
Open KDMLink, power on your vehicle, and pair — the full step-by-step walkthrough (including the iOS vs. Android system pickers, permission prompts, and what each connection stage means) lives on Pairing & Connecting.
First-run configuration
There's no account or sign-in step — KDMLink works fully offline, with no login. On first launch you'll walk through a short setup flow before reaching the main app:
Welcome
A branding screen with a Get Started button. There's no skip option.
Vehicle selection (required)
Pick your Brand → Model → Year → Transmission. Continue is disabled until a full, valid vehicle is selected — this step can't be skipped, since your vehicle profile is what drives the Home dashboard's widgets and units.
Vehicle naming (required)
Give your vehicle a nickname (prefilled with the model name, so you can just tap through) and optionally pick a paint color for the 3D vehicle viewer.
Device pairing (optional)
Tap Pair Device to pair your N-Link now, or tap Skip for now and pair later. This is also where the Bluetooth permission prompt appears — see Pairing & Connecting for the full walkthrough. If you skip this step, you can pair anytime afterward from Settings → Connections.
Setup complete
A summary of your vehicle and connection status, with a Continue to Dashboard button that finishes setup and takes you to the main app.
Unit preference (imperial/metric) is not part of first-run setup — it's a single toggle in Settings → Units, defaulting to imperial (°F, mph). There's no separate PSI/bar-specific control; it follows the same imperial/metric toggle.
Updating the app
Updates are delivered entirely through the App Store / Play Store — there's no in-app update prompt, and nothing you need to do manually beyond letting your phone update the app as usual.
App updates vs. N-Link firmware:
Updating the KDMLink app is separate from updating your N-Link's firmware. Firmware updates are handled from Settings → Firmware Update and are pushed to the device itself over Bluetooth — see your N-Link hardware documentation for that process. An app update on its own does not require re-pairing your N-Link.
After an update, you may see a one-time What's New walkthrough highlighting recent changes — this appears automatically and doesn't require any action.
